Just to start a bit of a discussion off:
Whats your favourite scripting language?
Mine for sure is PHP. It's the first one I learnt (after html and css of course) and I find it really easy to use. I've just finished coding my first major script, which is a member system that uses bridges to integrates all of the other scripts on my website, such as invision power board, coppermine gallery, flashchat chatroom, WSN links etc.
Once I'm confident with PHP I will go onto learning something else, but I am not quite sure what... any suggestions?

PHP is the best thing that has happened on the web, its free and its versatile. I have also coded my website in php + sql.

You bet it's the best thing... I have several websites (though most are still under construction) running is php + mysql tandem.

Heh, makes me laugh when people say "php AND sql" because they're nearly always used together... I mean what good is php AND flatfile database :p

for web stuff i prefer php, its much nicer than perl. for offline stuff i find that lua is the easiest to use and integrate into a progam

If I need a quick offline program, I find Visual basic extremely useful. I never learnt perl, it looks too difficult PHP looks much better

Seems like PHP and SQL are the obvious choices.
Anyone else upgraded to PHP 5? I have and find it much better.

I used a little bit of perl before for a school project, looks promising but I've not explored it that much after that class. I prefer to learn PHP more now. "Looks much better" to me too.

I use to do some work on perl, and I have also done some work in vb asp, but they are harder to code, take much more resources, and you have to be really careful with permissions, on the other hand php is much more flexible and you can find a lot of code snippets and free stuff from which you can work and customize

I like PHP with MySQL and CSS + HTML.

It might be called "CKBLOG" (CKB), but name may change.
