I am running a few sites on my vps1 and like to monitor the situation so that I know when to upgrade.

What do I need to monitor?
I can think of
Apache connections
Mysql connection
server load

what else?

How do I do that?

Thanks in advance.

See also this DeveloperWorks article (http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/aix/library/au-satslowsys.html?ca=dgr-lnxw01QuickUnix) I came across today for checking up on your system. It's not going to keep track of your server, but it's a useful set of tips for deciding whether your system is overloaded or not.
