As far as I know it depends mostly on your sites content, and based on that they will display the adwords, but the actual money will come just when the users click on the links. I have tried it on several sites I run, but had no luck, so I decided to take them away.

I agreee. It seems like it's really hard to earn that much on Google Adsense.
There are even some sites that offer tutorials or guides on how to make a lot of money on Google Adsense, but you have to pay them to get this information. They even post their Google reports that indicates thousands of dollars of income per month. Is this true? I have a feeling this is just one of those Internet scams to fool people.

Here's a link I found on tips and tricks on making money with Google AdSense

But I think it would really be great if someone here can atest that he had actually earned a decent amount of money with Google AdSense and receives a check every month. :)

disclosing your adsense earnings breaks the adsense T&Cs so yes the sites are likely to be scams
-edit:
the T&Cs forbid talking in detail about statistics but talking about total earnings is ok so the sites may be genuine. However a lot of the same information is probably on the google blog for free

what is the best CPC or CPM? And how much money should be invested?

I think earning a lot from CPC or CPM would really depend on the content of your site. You just have to make sure you have a specific target audience for your web content.
You don't have to pay anything for Google AdSense. All you need to do is register and then place a script on your website for the Google Ads. Just check out this link for more info. http://www.google.com/adsense .

I have heard, and seen, when someone click on a Yahoo domain ad, you receive around $50-$70. Yahoo looks very desperate to sell domains.

That's a good question... I'd be curious how many impressions it takes to make $5, $15, $100... Of course, with a rapidvps $9.95 account, maybe 9000 hits is $10. :D
I log about 18000 hits to a combination of file downloads and homepage, but a lot of the file downloads are deep links and wouldn't normally perform a web page display. I could change that a little, but I don't want to make it much more painful for people to get at the files. (And I bet at least half that traffic is bots, so maybe 5k real hits I could present google ads to?)

thats 9000 visits not 9000 page hits.
I am currently hosting 3 sites:
http://www.birtles.org.uk
http://www.showshiftergroup.com
http://www.mphx.co.uk
the first two get about the same traffic but the second one makes most of the money. I think this is partly due to the types of ads being shown and also more unique visitors. In total i'm making $20-$30 a month

That's pretty cool! I think $20-$30 isn't bad. Thanks for the info. :)

I believe it is possible and this is my target this year.
Check out my blog http://0toindependence.wordpress.com
4 months past and I'm almost 10% to my goal... we shall see
I'm spending too much time on hosting when I should really work on the content. Hope Rapidvps is the best so far.

The user pays Yahoo domain registration $2.99 per domain. How come Yahoo pays $50+ for a click. It should not be true. Usually, the highest domain ad is about $5 per click. You can check the bids on Overture website.
